Terms of use

1. What Kodomo is

Kodomo is a free Android app that brings together tools for everyday life with small children: a log of feeds, nappies and sleep, growth tracking, sleep sounds, a visual timer, a noise meter and several games. It works offline and stores your data on your own device.

By installing and using it you accept what this page says. If something here does not suit you, the reasonable answer is not to use it.

2. Kodomo does not give medical advice

This is the part that matters, and it is not boilerplate: Kodomo is a notebook, not a clinician. It is for writing down what happened and for not forgetting things. It does not diagnose, interpret or recommend.

Specifically: the growth charts assess nothing. They draw the numbers you type, and they do not say whether a weight or a height is on track. That is for whoever runs the check-ups to say.

Nothing you see in the app replaces the opinion of your paediatrician or pharmacist. If you have a health concern, ask a professional.

3. Your data is yours, and so is backing it up

Everything is stored on your device. That has a consequence worth understanding: nobody else has a copy. If you lose your phone, break it, or uninstall the app without exporting, that data goes with it. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.

That is why the app includes a backup-to-file feature, and why it is worth using. How you store that file and who you send it to is your decision and your responsibility.

4. Provided as is

The app is provided "as is", with no warranty that it is free of errors, that it works on every device, or that it will always be available. Care is taken to make it work well, but no particular outcome is guaranteed.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, no liability is accepted for damages arising from use of the app, nor for the loss of data stored on your device. This does not limit any rights granted to you by the consumer legislation of your country, which takes precedence over this page.

5. Using the app

You may install and use Kodomo freely, on as many devices as you like, for what it is meant for. What you may not do is redistribute it, resell it, decompile it or publish modified versions. The app, its name and its icon belong to its author.

The sounds and lullabies in the app are generated by code from public-domain melodies; no third-party recordings are included.

6. Changes

These terms may change if the app changes. The version in force is always the one on this page, with its date at the top.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Spain, without prejudice to the rights you may have as a consumer in your place of residence.

This text is clear and honest about what the app does, but it is not legal advice. Who is responsible, and how to get in touch, is in Privacy.
